Our commitment to SUSTAINABILITY
At Canarias Nature Guides, we protect what we explore. We offer active tourism experiences whilst striving to minimise our environmental impact and maximise local benefits. We highlight the richness of our flora and fauna and raise awareness amongst our visitors about the fragility of these ecosystems. We are also signatories to the Tenerife Charter for the Sustainability to ensure that every adventure respects nature and supports local communities.
Tenerife Charter for Sustainability
Companies that sign up to the Charter for the Sustainability of Activities in the Nature voluntarily commit to comply with the 15 points set out in the Charter in order to offer a high-quality tourist experience that is also sustainable and respectful of the environment and natural resources.
Member companies are subject to annual audits carried out by Turismo de Tenerife to ensure that we maintain the highest standards of quality and environmental responsibility. This includes the submission of audited documentation, interviews with our staff, and inspections by ‘mystery shoppers’ who take part in our activities anonymously.

Our Actions: Circular Economy
Reduction of Plastics
We eliminate or reduce single-use plastic to a minimum on our excursions. We use reusable water bottles, washable and reusable containers and cutlery for food, and reusable bags to carry our picnic.
Local suppliers
We are committed to local, zero-kilometre produce. At the picnics and lunches we organise for our groups, the flavours of our region always take centre stage: cheeses, wines and fruit from the islands. We support small businesses and local producers. We incorporate authentic local craftwork into our tours and design experiences that boost the local economy.
Respect for the Environment
We respect the environments we walk through, including their flora, fauna, geology and heritage. We do not stray from the path. We do not pick plants. We do not collect rocks or other natural objects from the environment. We do not hunt, kill or disturb animals. We leave nothing behind and take nothing away, except rubbish. We enjoy and learn from the environment without disturbing or damaging it.
Waste management
We do not throw anything on the ground and we sort the waste generated during our excursions.
Environmental education
We protect what we value, we value what we know - this is the foundation of our educational work. We strive to help our customers recognise the intrinsic value of nature and the impact of their decisions and actions as consumers and visitors. We promote behaviour that is respectful of and helps to preserve the environment.
Small and mid-size accommodation
We accommodate guests in small to medium-sized establishments, often rural accommodation run by local owners. We avoid large all-inclusive chains.
Accredited local guides
We work with accredited local guides to support the region’s economy and ensure a service that meets legal and quality standards. Their commitment to caring for the environment and their deep appreciation for this land are fundamental to preserving nature and raising awareness amongst our customers.
Reducción de plásticos
Eliminamos o reducimos al mínimo el plástico de un solo uso en las excursiones. Usamos botellas reutilizables para el agua, envases y cubiertos lavables para la comida y bolsas reutilizables para el transporte del picnic.

Our next challenge: Not just to care for, but to REGENERATE
Sustainable tourism aims to cause no harm, whilst regenerative tourism aims to improve the destination. Our next goal is to organise, or incorporate into our services, regenerative activities such as litter picks, trail restoration, controlling invasive species and activities with a social impact.
Our code of GOOD PRACTICE
Help us protect the environment and follow our Code of Good Practice:
- Bring your own reusable bottle.
- Avoid single-use plastics.
- Don’t leave rubbish in the outdoors – your rubbish comes back with you, and so do your organic waste.
- Admire the plants without damaging or picking them.
- Respect the wildlife and its habitat – observe the animals without interfering or feeding them.
- Don’t take any stones and don’t pile them up.
- Please respect the trail markings and minimise your impact.
- Do not light a fire under any circumstances and make sure you do not leave anything behind that could act as a lens.
- Avoid smoking in the woods and in protected natural areas.
- Use public transport whenever you can.
- Buy local products.
- Find out about the rules of the protected areas you are visiting.
- Hire certified guides.
- Don’t put your safety at risk just to take a photo.
